Barcelona, Spain, April 5th, 2017 In this new edition of the Factories of the Future Awards held in Barcelona, Spain, OPTIMITIVE's customer has been the recipient of this award for the implementation of OPTIMITIVE's OPTIBAT solution in their Sagunto plant, Valencia, Spain.

Air Liquide has been awarded a prize by Advanced Factories, the new innovation, automation and Industry 4.0. congress, during the “Factories of the Future Awards”. Ms. Beatriz Echeverría Belío, Project Manager in the Remote Optimization and Efficiency Center in AIR LIQUIDE Spain represented the company in the awards ceremony.

The prize, that promotes innovation and adoption of the “Industry 4.0 thinking approach, was given in the category “Best industry in using digital technologies for production” for the pioneering project “Adaptive intelligence for the dynamic optimization of an Air Separation Unit (ASU) liquefaction cycle, last Thursday, April 5th, 2017 in the Majestic Hotel in Barcelona.

The ceremony presented the Factories of the Future Awards at the Hotel Majestic in Barcelona. More than 100 projects were received and considered, and only three for each category made it to the final phase, AIR LIQUIDE's project being one of them. More than 9500 attendees were present at the Advanced Factories Congress Factories of the Future Award ceremony.

Other finalists in this category were FESTO – Industry 4.0 – Example of Technology Plant in Scharnhausen and JJUAN – Company leverage by digital solutions.

The Factories of the Future Awards are intended to recognize the work, leadership and transformation of those companies that are committed to innovation and adapt to the new era of Industry 4.0. They focus on the areas of business model, new products, equipment, operational processes, communication management, marketing or customer experience.

OPTIMITIVE provided to AIR LIQUIDE the OPTIBAT® technology and service, on which basis AIR LIQUIDE’s optimization case study has been awarded, specifically, an adaptive intelligence system for the dynamic optimization of the liquefaction cycle in an Air Separation Unit.

OPTIBAT’s objective, in this particular case is to reduce the liquefaction cycle power consumption, complying with annual production objectives and quality criteria. Cycle consumption is determined by the load of the cycle compressor, the Nitrogen supply compressors and the cooling groups. Energy savings are a direct consequence of a lower power demand preserving production and complying with all production constraints and requirements.

For this application, OPTIBAT® was configured to generate recommendations for the operating variables such as pressures, flows and temperatures. OPTIBAT® learns continuously from the process data and adapts to the different process dynamics, atmosphere and plant conditions.

This is the second award in two consecutive years for AIR LIQUIDE, that already received the award to “Innovation in Energy Efficiency” in the IBERQUIMIA 2016 Conference, also for the use of OPTIBAT® technology.
